World's Largest Swim Lesson

World's Largest Swim Lesson Guinness World Record attempt at the New Port Richey Recreation & Aquatic Center

Thousands of children around the globe are participating in The World's Largest Swimming Lesson on June 18th.  This is a Guiness World Record attempt for the largest simultaneous swimming lesson ever conducted.

This event was created to spread the word that Swimming Lessons Save Lives.   Drowning is the leading cause of unintended injury related death of children ages 1 - 5.  Research shows if a child doesn't learn to swim before the 3rd grade, they likely never will.  Swim lessons in Florida are crucial because there is water everywhere: pools, lakes, and the Gulf of Mexico are just a few places that become death traps for small children that cannot swim.

The New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center will be involved with the Guinness World Record attempt this year.  Registration is at 10 am, and the lesson will begin promptly at 11 am.  There is no charge to participate in this event or to be a spectator.  The Center is located at 6630 Van Buren Street, New Port Richey, 34653.  For more information contact Linda Cassidy at (727) 841-4560.  If you can't make it follow us on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/nprparksandrec where we will be posting photos during the event.
