Ceremony To Mark Construction Of Starkey Gap Trail
Pasco County Engineering Services will celebrate the construction of the new Starkey Gap Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail.
NEW PORT RICHEY, FL ---- Pasco County Engineering Services will celebrate the construction of the new Starkey Gap Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail that will link the Starkey and Suncoast trails in Pasco County to the Pinellas Trail.
The Starkey Gap Trail Construction Ceremony will take place Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Longleaf Green, Town Avenue in New Port Richey, off Starkey Boulevard about a third of a mile north of State Road 54.
This project will build a new 2.4-mile long multi-use trail from the Pasco/Pinellas County line to the southern end of the Starkey Trail north of SR 54 in Pasco County. The trail will follow the Duke Energy right of way to SR 54, west along SR 54 to Starkey Boulevard and then north to Starkey Trail. Construction is expected to finish in the summer of 2019.

The trail will connect the Pinellas Trail to the Starkey Boulevard Trail and the Suncoast Trail, creating connectivity to a trail system of more than 100 miles and growing. It is the last link of the Coast-to-Coast Trail to be constructed in Pasco County. When complete, this network will include approximately 250 miles of trail and connect St. Petersburg and Titusville.
Construction of the project is being funded and managed by the Florida Department of Transportation. Pasco County will assume management of the trail once complete.
