NEW PORT RICHEY, FL -- For people who can't stand to throw anything away, here's a festival especially for you.
The fourth annual Pasco Upcycle & Art Festival returns to Sims Park in downtown New Port Richey Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free, family-friendly event, which takes place in conjunction with America Recycles Day, aims to reduce waste and change perceptions by showcasing that salvaged items can be transformed into something useful or beautiful.
“To have so many talented people in one place who all share a passion for the environment is inspiring,” said Keep Pasco Beautiful Coordinator Kristen King.

Upcycling is also known as creative reuse, or the transforming of unwanted waste into new materials or products. Many people hear waste reduction and think of the standard household recycling of aluminum cans at the curb, but the options are much broader than that, King said.
The Pasco Upcycle & Art Festival will feature more than 70 upcycle vendors and artists selling items such as jewelry made from spoons, lawn sculptures made from discarded tires and re-purposed furniture and decor made from pallets.

Farmer’s market vendors, food trucks and craft beer offerings will also be available.
Entertainment includes live Americana bands: Oak Ramble (10:15 a.m.), Mountain Holler (12:15 p.m.) and Rebekah Pulley & the Reluctant Prophets (2:15 p.m.).
The Art of Recycling show, featuring art from local high school students, will be on display at Peace Hall.
