Buyer Beware: COAST MAZDA in US19 in Port Richey

BUYER BEWARE: COAST MAZDA ON US 19 IN PORT RICHEY

About a month ago, my soon-to-be-75-year-old mother purchased a vehicle from Coast Mazda. They knew her husband had just passed away and that she was living on a fixed income with very limited money.

Now the vehicle is stuttering, having trouble changing gears, and yesterday it stalled in the middle of the road. She had to turn it off and restart it. We still don’t know what’s causing the problem.

When she asked the dealership for help, she was told that because she declined the extended warranty, they wouldn’t do anything for her—and wanted $249 just to diagnose it.

According to my mother, the man in charge of the entire dealership was involved in this response. The way she was treated was rude and dismissive.

A recently widowed senior citizen should be able to ask for help with a car she bought ONE MONTH AGO without being treated like she’s the problem. This is now a safety concern, not just an inconvenience.

In my opinion, this treatment is shameful, and my mother has been taken advantage of. Based on our experience, I would urge anyone in our community—especially seniors on fixed incomes—to stay far away from this dealership.

Coast Mazda: you have an opportunity to address this properly. My mother deserves a serious response and a meaningful effort to resolve the problem.
