Deputies Arrest Man For Breaking Into Spring Hill Funeral Home

A Spring Hill man has been charged with burglary and grand theft after he admitted to breaking into a funeral home because he was bored.

SPRING HILL, FL – A Spring Hill man has been charged with burglary and grand theft after he admitted to breaking into a funeral home because he was bored.

Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Demarco Family Funeral Home at 5399 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, Friday, Feb. 2 at 1:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a burglary in progress.

A witness, who was working in a business next to the funeral home, reported seeing a man wearing a mask entering the funeral home with a flashlight and a crowbar.

When deputies arrived, they saw a man leaving the funeral home carrying a large object, later determined to be a tub of formaldehyde.

Deputies arrested Aaron Meininger, 30.

During a search of his car, Detective Chris Owens found various items taken from the funeral home including makeup, nail polish, electric clippers, bottles containing soap and formaldehyde powder, and instruments used in the preparation of bodies.

When Owens questioned Meininger about the burglary, Meininger said he was "bored" and "messed up," and wasn't even sure what kind of business he was breaking into.

Meininger was charged with commercial burglary, grand theft and possession of burglary tools.
