DUI Checkpoint Set for Saturday
Police will be out in force in the New Port Richey area.

Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies and officers from other agencies plan to deliver a reminder Saturday night that drinking and driving is against the law.
The county has announced plans to set up a checkpoint location in the area of Grand Boulevard and Trouble Creek Road in New Port Richey. The effort, a sheriff’s office media release said, is part of overall enhanced efforts to keep impaired drivers off the roads. The checkpoint will be active from about 10 p.m. Saturday to roughly 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
Pasco County logged more than 400 alcohol and/or drug-related crashes in 2013, the sheriff’s office said. The penalties for impaired driving can add up to more than $10,000 once fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses are covered.
