I find it incomprehensible that Duke Energy has chosen the hottest months in the year to work on transformers. In a letter to their customers they have stated that electricity will be turned off from 2 to 4 hours or perhaps longer. We, personally, will not only lose our air conditioning and refrigeration, but also our water since we have a well and are not connected to the main pipeline for city water. We have no relatives in the area, a few friends, but it is difficult to be welcomed in someone's home with a huge Rottweiler and hyper Rat Terrier. Because my husband and I are retired, we will be expected to spend too many hours without any relief. If Duke Energy feels they must do these “improvements” in July and August, I suggest that they make plans for dog-friendly people shelters, or be prepared to pay some hospital bills, because this ranks as an emergency in my experience.
