Fatal Pedestrian Crash Victim Identified
The identity of the woman involved in a July 3 crash had been a mystery.

While the Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate a fatal July 3 crash involving a pedestrian, troopers now know the victim’s name.
Mary Ellen Tucker, 62, of New Port Richey was struck by a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck just before 9 p.m. on State Road 52, west of Little Road, a highway patrol report said. Tucker’s identity eluded troopers until family members recognized an artist’s rendering of her circulated Wednesday.
The accident that claimed Tucker’s life happened as she was attempting to walk south across the eastbound lanes of State Road 52, troopers say. Traffic in the center lane stopped to allow her to cross, but she was she was struck by a vehicle driven by Timothy Gibbar, 53, of Tampa, the report said.

Tucker died at the scene.
Charges in the case remain pending as the investigation continues.
