Fivay High Teacher Charged With Videotaping Student Undressing

HUDSON, FL -- A Pasco County teacher is facing video voyeurism charges after a student reportedly caught him filming her when she was undressing in a classroom closet.

Fivay High School language arts teacher Thomas John Kovack, 38, of Palm Harbor was arrested Nov. 16.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, a 17-year-old girl preparing for a class photo was changing her shirt in the closet when she noticed a phone taking video of her. She examined the video and said it showed Kovack putting the phone in the closet followed by footage of her undressing. She deleted the video and reported the incident.

Kovack admitted to putting the phone in the closet, said the sheriff's office.

He was booked into the Land O' Lakes Detention Center, where he was later released on a $5,000 bond.
