Florida Cancer Affiliates Holds Groundbreaking for New State-of-the-Art Center in New Port Richey

Florida Cancer Affiliates (FCA), a community-based medical oncology, hematology, and radiation therapy oncology practice, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new state-of-the-art and cutting-edge cancer treatment center located at 3611 Little Road, New Port Richey near old State Road 54. The ground breaking was held on Wednesday, November 20 at 4 pm.

The construction of the new facility was designed by Graham Design Associates and will feature the newly acquired Elekta Infinity, a highly sophisticated radiation treatment system for cancer that substantially reduces the time required for radiotherapy, while giving clinicians the ability to treat targets more aggressively than ever before.

Elekta Infinity is an advanced digital linear accelerator that incorporates Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), an innovative way to deliver radiation treatments that is a significant improvement to existing radiation therapy techniques.  Elekta’s VMAT reduces the time required for radiotherapy sessions to five minutes or less, while giving clinicians the ability to treat targets more aggressively than ever before.

FCA is a partner of renowned oncology care leader, Moffett Cancer Center, and united in healing nationally with the US Oncology Network, one of the nation’s largest community-based cancer treatment and research networks dedicated to advancing cancer care and expanding patient access to high quality care.

The integrated clinical team of Florida Cancer Affiliates employs the latest technologies and drug therapies to ensure patients receive advanced care closer to home. The new comprehensive treatment center will include out-patient treatment and diagnostic facilities including chemotherapy, hematology, radiation therapy, positron emission tomography (PET), clinical research, pharmacy and laboratory as well as financial counseling and patient support services.
