Florida Mom 'Too Lazy' to Clean Jailed for Child Neglect

Police found three kids and 40 animals living in a home filled with feces, urine, garbage and roaches.

A St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office investigator performing a routine welfare check as part of an ongoing Department of Children and Families case got more than he bargained for recently.

When theΒ investigator turned up at the Fort Pierce home of Elizabeth Yeary earlier this week, he found three young children, 40 animals and their mother living in a home so filled with feces, urine and trash, he characterized it as β€œunlivable,” WPBF reported.

The mother, Elizabeth Yeary, 35, told the investigator her home, which had feces in its tub, had been worse in the past. The home was also overrun with roaches and spider webs, WPTV pointed out.

Investigators say the woman’s three children were sleeping on blankets and couch cushions that were covered in feces, the station reported.

The children have been taken into state custody, both stations reported.

As for the animals, the menagerie of dogs, mice, lizards, prairie dogs, rabbits, chickens and a spider and snake have been taken into custody by St. Lucie County.

Yeary was charged with three counts of child neglect, but was later released on $18,750 bond. The DCF investigation continues.
