Florida Teen Charged in Murder-for-Hire Plot

Police say he wanted a friend to kill his family.

Parents who go through their teenage children’s rooms are never quite sure what they’re going to find.

Chances are, however, that a Port St. Lucie man didn’t expect to find a murder-for-hire contract in his 14-year-old son’s room. That, however, is exactly what Port St. Lucie Police say the man came across.

The contract written in note form was executed between the boy and a friend, WPTV.com reports. It offered a $1,200 payment for the death of the boy’s father and his stepmother and stepbrother.

Although signed, the contract was never quite sealed and delivered.

The boy who was “hired” to do the killing signed it and forgot about it, the station reported.

Had the contract been carried out, the teen who was intended to do the killing was supposed to make it look like a botched burglary, the Sun-Sentinel reported. The 14-year-old was going to hide in his room while the murders took place and then call 911 from a neighbor’s home, the paper reported.

Even though the friend never intended to carry through on the plan, police took the son’s actions seriously. That boy, who is not being identified, has been charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder, according to WPTV.

He was being held in a juvenile detention facility as of Monday, the station reported.
