Free Adoption Event Aims to Get Pets Home for the Holidays
Pasco County is staging the one-day event this Saturday.

With a shelter that’s filled over capacity and the holidays right around the corner, Pasco County Animal Services is hoping more than a few families will want a dog or cat to put under their trees.
That’s why the shelter is playing host to a free adoption event dubbed “Home for the Holidays” this Saturday, Dec. 20, from noon until 6:30 p.m.
Throughout the event, visitors can come out, select a pet at no charge and have their pictures taken with Santa Claus and the Grinch. While Santa and the green guy have to cut out at 4, shelter workers promise to stay all the way through until 6:30 p.m. to help match pets with new owners. A DJ is also expected to provide entertainment for the crowd.

Just before the adoption event kicks off, Pasco County Animal Services plans to take time out to honor former County Commissioner Pat Mulieri by naming its small dog room in her honor.
The adoption event takes place at the Land O’ Lakes shelter, 19640 Dogpatch Lane. While the pets are free, animal services is happy to accept donations for continued care of the homeless dogs and cats housed at the shelter.
