Girl, 8, Hit By Truck Towing Camper In Pasco County: Police

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Dade City girl was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — An 8-year-old Dade City girl was hospitalized Friday after she was hit by a truck towing a camper on U.S. Highway 301 in Pasco County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 62-year-old man from Lakeland was driving the truck north on Highway 301 when the child attempted to run across the road in front of the truck.

According to police, the driver steered to the road's outside shoulder to avoid a collision; however, the girl was struck by the left side of the camper.

Police said the child was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital. According to police, she suffered serious injuries.
