High-Tech, Eco-Friendly Childcare Facility Breaks Ground in Trinity

Little Owl Learning Academy (LOLA) broke ground on its state-of-the-art, eco-friendly childcare facility in Trinity on Monday.

Little Owl Learning Academy (LOLA) broke ground on its state-of-the-art, eco-friendly childcare facility in Trinity’s Foxwood Commerce Park on Monday. The facility, which is set to open in Spring 2015, will serve families across the Tampa Bay area.

The Early Learning Coalition of Pasco and Hernando Counties recently indicated a need for additional childcare facilities in the rapidly developing Trinity area. LOLA will address this need, providing childcare for children from 6 months to VPK, and before- and after-school programs for children ages 5-12.

In addition, the facility will bring a number of new jobs to the community, with more than 20 childcare positions to be filled.

“The growing Trinity community seemed like a natural fit for our unique facility, which will look much different than any other around, with its interior courtyard playground and volunteer- and child-run organic garden,” said Sindy Ortiz, Director of LOLA.

Other unique features of LOLA include state-of-the-art touchscreen learning centers, and high-end security with keyless entry to the front door and outdoor corridor and cameras in every classroom. The facility will also serve healthy meals with minimally processed ingredients, and utilize recycled materials for curriculum-based projects.

LOLA will be the only facility in Pasco County to follow the nationally recognized Mother Goose Time™ curriculum, which is uniquely designed to support a child’s socio-emotional, physical and cognitive development. In conjunction with this curriculum, which meets Florida’s standards for preschool curriculum, LOLA will focus on nutritional awareness and sustainability, with children learning through hands-on experiences, such as tending to the facility’s organic garden.

“My hope is to create a family environment that is both loving and fun – where parents feel comfortable dropping off their children and children are so engaged in the curriculum that they don’t want to leave at the end of the day,” said Ortiz.

The 19,000-square-foot facility, which will stand at 10911 Fox Wood Commerce Drive – at the intersection of Trinity Blvd. and Duck Slough Blvd. – was designed by Keener Architecture and will be constructed under the management of DeLotto General Contractors & Construction Managers.

LOLA is now enrolling students for Spring 2015 and will be offering a Grand Opening tuition special of 30% off the first month’s tuition and 10% off months two through six. Tuition will be competitive with other childcare facilities in the area.
