HOLIDAY, FL -- A 20-year-old Holiday man has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after he was accused of striking two people in the head with a hammer.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Joe Isaola of Taray Lane in Holiday and a friend were sitting on some stairs smoking pot outside an apartment complex on Jordana Way in Holiday around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11, when two residents complained.

The two residents then headed to the store. When they returned, Isaola and his friend hadn't moved. They got into an argument and deputies say Isaola struck one of the men in the forehead with a hammer, knocking him out. Deputies say he then struck the other man in the side of the head with the hammer. He and his friend then fled the area.

When deputies caught up with Isaola, he said he brought the hammer with him because he'd had problems with one of the residents previously and anticipated another altercation.

The victim who was struck in the forehead had to have a plate surgically placed in his skull to repair the damage.
