HUDSON, FL -- A 44-year-old Hudson man has been arrested after the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said he discharged a firearm three times in front a deputy after the deputy warned him not to handle any firearms while intoxicated.

Ronald Lee Shimbus of Old Dixie Highway was arrested Wednesday and charged with discharging a firearm in public.

At 11:13 p.m., a sheriff's deputy was responding to a landlord-tenant dispute when he said Shimbus appeared on the scene intoxicated and carrying a CO2 pepper gun. The deputy told him not to handle weapons while intoxicated. In response, Shimbus returned to his home and retrieved a .22-caliber semiautomatic rifle, which he fired several times in front of the deputy, stating, "I don't give a f--k. I'll go to prison for the rest of my life."
