Hudson Man Accused Of Stealing Checks From Mailboxes

A 31-year-old Hudson man was arrested after being accused of stealing checks from mailboxes and cashing them with a mobile banking app.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — A 31-year-old Hudson man was arrested after being accused of stealing checks from mailboxes in Port Richey and New Port Richey and cashing them using his mobile phone banking app.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Peter Havens stole three checks totaling $1,232 from a 68-year-old resident's mailbox and a check for $85.36 from another resident's mailbox.

He was charged with uttering a forged check and taken to the Land O' Lakes Detention Center where bond was set at $5,000.
