Information Sought in Fatal Hit-And-Run

A pedestrian was killed Thursday night on U.S. 19.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run crash that left one person dead.

According to the agency, the crash happened Thursday around 11:09 p.m. An unidentified vehicle was heading north on U.S. 19 in the right turn lane north of Ja Mar Boulevard at the time. AΒ pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was walking north on U.S. 19 in the outside right turn lane just north of Jar Mar.

According to troopers, the vehicle struck the pedestrian and dragged the person more than 40 feet before taking off northbound on U.S. 19.

The pedestrian died at the scene.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a late model red Dodge extended cab pickup with damage to its front right side.
