Interested in Bok Tower Gardens? Here's a trip for you!

I have lived in Florida since 1992, and for years I have thought about going to the Bok Tower Gardens.  For some reason or other I still haven’t made it.  But as luck would have it the New Port Richey Recreation & Aquatic Center has a senior bus trip planned for November 15th to visit the Bok Tower Gardens.  You do not have to show proof that you are a senior so I am safe, although they will not be allowing children so you don’t have to worry about a noisy bus trip.

For those of you not familiar with Bok Tower Gardens here’s some quick facts.  Located in Lake Wales, these gardens have had over 23 million visitors since 1929. Through its historic landscape gardens, unique Singing Tower carillon and magnificent 1930s Mediterranean-style mansion, the Gardens offer unparalleled opportunities for artistic, cultural, personal and spiritual enrichment.  Bok Tower is also home to the famous Singing Tower carillon.  A carillon is musical instrument consisting of at least 23 cast bronze bells that are precisely tuned and arranged in chromatic progression so that music in any key can be played.  The carillon at Bok Tower Gardens has 60 bells ranging in weight from 16 pounds to nearly 12 tons.  The carillon concerts that are performed daily from the tower will be live on this day.

The cost is $55 plus tax, which includes transportation, admission to the gardens, a walking group tour of the gardens, and lunch.  I went online and the pictures of the gardens were amazing, so $55 for an experience that you will remember forever seems relatively inexpensive.  The bus will leave from the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center at 8:30 am and will return at 5:30 pm.  There is only limited space available so we need your reservation by October 31st.  For more information or to make your reservation you can call Wendy at (727) 841-4560 or email her at putontiwg@cityofnewportrichey.org .
