Holiday Teen Shot Step-Father, Cops Say

Pasco County Sheriff's say the man shot and killed another in Holiday the afternoon of Aug. 1.

Update 8 p.m. Aug. 1: A 19-year-old from Holiday is in custody related to the shooting death of his step-father.

Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies say Jason Chevere, 19, shot Dale Wildermuth, 49, and then fled on foot. Chevere later returned to the home on Mosaic Drive where he was brought into custody.

Wildermuth, Chevere’s step-father, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chevere is being booked into the Land O’ Lakes jail.

Update 5:46 p.m. Aug. 1: Just moments after announcing a manhunt for a person wanted in connection with a shooting in Holiday, Pasco County Sheriff's Deputies announced they had caught their man.

The man's identity hasn't been released.

The shooting death of a man in Holiday has spurred a police chase for the suspected gunman in the area of Mosaic Drive.

Pasco County Sheriff’s officials say the shooting took place at 5545 Mosaic Drive around 4 p.m. today, Aug. 1.

“A man in his 20s shot another man and the residence and fled on foot,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media.

The victim, who hasn’t been identified yet, died at the scene.

Deputies have called in K-9s and the air unit to help in the search for the shooter.
