Man Dies After He's Run Over By ATV On Pasco County Road

PASCO COUNTY, FL — A man is dead after he was run over by an all-terrain vehicle on a Pasco County road Sunday, authorities said.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. on a private road behind a Sunoco gas station at 16621 Shady Hills Rd. Police said 32-year-old Ford K. Perkins of Spring Hill was driving a Polaris side-by-side ATV northbound when he began driving in circles and lost control of the vehicle.

According to police, a passenger in the front right seat — a 35-year-old Spring Hill man — was ejected from the ATV as it overturned. Police said the ATV traveled over the man, who later died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Perkins and a second passenger — a 24-year-old Spring Hill man — were not injured.

Following the incident, police said Perkins fled on foot but was later found a short distance from the crash. He was arrested and charged with manslaughter while driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
