Update: Man Shot After Domestic Violence Standoff
The incident unfolded early Friday morning in Holiday.
A 41-year-old Holiday man faces attempted homicide of a law enforcement officer charges following a domestic violence incident.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began to unfold around 10:30 p.m. Thursday when deputies received a domestic violence call. When deputies arrived at the home in the 3200 block of Windfield Drive, the suspect would not allow deputies access to check on the welfare of his girlfriend.
The woman’s ex-husband, mother and son all indicated she had been battered by her boyfriend, the sheriff’’s office said. When deputies arrived, the man fled inside the home and shut off the lights, refusing to let deputies in or to let the woman’s son out.

Deputies outside the home located the woman in a bedroom and tried to take her out through a window, but she was unresponsive. When that failed, they tried to use a pepper spray fogger to get the man to come out. The man threw a glass vase at deputies, breaking glass on them. A taser was then used with no effect.
The man then picked up a wooden nightstand over his head and charged at the deputies outside the door. At that point, the man was shot multiple times by a deputy, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies were able to enter the home around 12:30 a.m. Friday.
The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is expected to recover, the sheriff’s said. The woman was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
Aaron Martin now faces multiple charges of attempted homicide of a law enforcement officer, along with a number of other charges.
Martin had not yet been booked into the Pasco County jail Friday morning. He, however, has been an inmate before. Jail records indicate he’s been arrested numerous times in the past on domestic battery charges.
The sheriff’s office has not yet released the name of the deputy involved in the shooting.
