Morning in America? Were the '80s as great as people say they were?

I keep hearing how great the 1980s were, and I feel I have to have my say.  It especially annoys me when people who weren't even born yet wax nostalgic about that decade.  I actually lived in the '80s, and grew up then.  And to be perfectly honest, I'm not very fond of that decade.  I'm curious if anyone else feels that way, or I am just a lone voice in the wilderness?
