Naked Intruder Attacks New Port Richey Resident With Rake

Pasco County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a naked man accused of breaking into a mobile home in New Port Richey.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man accused of breaking into a mobile home at 9022 Kiowa Drive, New Port Richey, while naked and assaulting one of the residents.

The sheriff’s office received a call shortly after 8 p.m. on June 8 from the residents of the mobile home who said a naked man they did not know had entered their unlocked home and began yelling and threatening the residents.

One of the residents threw the naked man out the side door of the mobile home where a physical altercation ensued.

The intruder struck the resident in the back several times with a nearby yard rake. The force of the blows broke the rake into several pieces and the resident sustained multiple puncture wounds to his back.

In self-defense, the victim retrieved a hammer from his truck and chased the intruder with it, striking him several times before the naked intruder was able to get away.

Sheriff’s Cpl. Cliff Baltzer and K9 Tundra tracked the intruder to 9025 Pontiac St., a few streets away, and arrested Maurice Jason Castanedo, 26, who was positively identified as the naked interloper by the residents of the mobile home.

He invoked his Miranda rights and refused to answer questions. He was taken to the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
