Gulf lost the game, butit did in its second half than it did in its first. =Blackwood helped swing the momentum in Gulf’s favor by getting a takeaway from Wesley Chapel, driving it to the basket and finishing with a powerful slam dunk that drew calls of “Oh!!! Bird's” from all over the crowd, despite being on the opposing team’s home court.

Rohan also played every minute on the court, showing outstanding stamina and a relentless attitude.

Head Coach Buck DeWitt, says that Blackwood is “always one of the most athletic players on the floor, no matter whose playing.”

Rohan practices hard, plays hard and makes sure his teammates are equally matching his intensity at all times

Not only does he show potential on the basketball court but also on the football field. DeWitt recalled the first time Blackwood played safety and that his break on the ball was similar to the break of a safety who had played all his or her life. However, DeWitt thinks basketball is his best sport.

The coach said Blackwood knows he’s still growing, but opposing coaches often ask.

“Is that number 21(Blackwood) really a freshman?”
