New Port Richey Woman Dies After Failing To Put Van Into 'Park'

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — A New Port Richey woman has died after being run over by her van after she failed to put it into "park."

According to the New Port Richey Police, paramedics responded to the 5900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue when a woman called 911 to say she was experiencing shortness of breath after being run over by her Dodge Caravan.

According to neighbors, Georgann Klecan, 71, was getting out of her Dodge Caravan and failed to put it into "park." It began rolling back and the still-open vehicle door struck her, knocking her to the ground. The vehicle then ran over her.

She was taken to North Bay Hospital where she died.
