Newly Certified Sheriff's K-9 Tracks Down 1st Accused Criminal

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office's newest addition to its K-9 unit made his first bust early Friday morning.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office's newest addition to its K-9 unit made his first bust early Friday morning.

Pasco County Sheriff's K-9 Star and Deputy Kathryn Seper assisted the New Port Richey Police Department in tracking a man who crashed into an officer’s patrol car and nearly hit another officer while fleeing from a car dealership in New Port Richey.

The man's vehicle was found parked next to a wooded area. K-9 Star located him 100 yards from the vehicle, hiding in some bushes.

The man was taken into custody and charged with vehicle burglary, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing to elude and hit-and-run.

Star and Seper were recently certified and just began working on the road.
