Pasco County Accident Claims Life Of Skydiver
A 53-year-old man died from his injuries during a Tuesday jump near Zephyrhills.

PASCO COUNTY, FL - Pasco Sheriff’s Office detectives today confirmed that the skydiver involved in Tuesday’s accident in Zephyrhills succumbed to his injuries.
James Rodney Mann, 53, of Malabar, was critically injured after hitting the ground during a jump, according to law enforcement.
He was transported to a Lakeland hospital and passed away at about 7 p.m. Tuesday night, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said. Mann’s next-of-kin was notified of the accident.
Investigators reported that the preliminary information indicates that Mann and his instructor made their jump
separately at 13,500 feet. At 4,000 feet, Mann was instructed to pull his cord, and the chute deployed, but then Mann rolled over and got entangled in the chute, the department said. An error occurred with his reserve chute and he hit the ground near Sam Pasco Park, authorities said.
