Pasco County Deputy Arrested On Child Sex Charges: Sheriff

Pasco Sheriff's Corporal Donald Valverde was arrested on charges involving a minor after an investigation into alleged off-duty conduct.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — A Pasco Sheriff's Office corporal has been arrested and fired after authorities accused him of sexual offenses involving a minor, according to Sheriff Chris Nocco.

Corporal Donald Valverde, 37, was arrested on two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation and one count of unlawful sexual activity involving a minor, according to the sheriff's office. The offenses occurred while Valverde was off duty, authorities said.

At a news conference held on Friday, Nocco said the offenses occurred in Pasco County over an extended period of time and involved a victim with whom Valverde had a familiar or custodial relationship.

Authorities did not provide further details about the relationship, citing laws protecting the identity of the minor.

Nocco repeatedly praised the victim for coming forward and providing information to investigators.

"The bravery to come forward, the bravery at that age ... is incredible, and I want to thank her," Nocco said.

The victim is safe and receiving services, according to the sheriff's office.

Nocco said investigators have not identified any additional victims; however, authorities are asking anyone who believes they or a loved one may have been victimized to contact the Pasco Sheriff's Office crime tips line at 800-706-2488.

The investigation remains ongoing.
