Pasco Detectives Make Arrest In Shooting Of Chasco Eighth-Grader

Pasco County Sheriff's deputies have arrested 26-year-old Steven Irizarry Marin in the Feb. 14 drive-by shooting death of a 14-year-old.

PORT RICHEY, FL – Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 26-year-old Steven Irizarry Marin in the Feb. 14 drive-by shooting death of a 14-year-old Chasco Middle School student.

Eighth-grader Christian Robinson was shot in the head while waiting in a blue Hyundai parked at 6353 Ridge Crest Drive in Port Richey at about 5:55 p.m. on Valentine's Day. The driver of the Hyundai was Alexander McCarthy. There were two other passengers, Adrian Garcia and Josh Phillips. They told detectives that the car with the shooter had followed them from U.S. 19 to Ridge Crest Drive and fired shots randomly at the Hyundai as he drove by.

Robinson was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa where he fought for three days before dying Feb. 17.

The description of the shooter and the shooter’s car led detectives to Marin of 6700 Date Palm Blvd., Port Richey.

When detectives executed a search warrant at Marin’s home, they found a blue hat and shirt that matched those worn by the shooter. Marin also admitted that it was his Mazda that was videotaped by surveillance cameras in the area leaving the scene of the shooting. He also possessed a receipt for a 9 mm black handgun similar to the gun used in the shooting.

He was arrested Monday, March 12 and charged with murder.
