Pasco Firefighters Rescue Teen Stuck In Storm Drain For Hour

The teenager was walking home from the bus stop and accidentally dropped cell phone into a storm drain.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — Pasco County firefighters were called in to extricate a teenager from a storm drain after the teen dropped a cell phone in the drain and climbed inside to retrieve it.

The teenager was walking home from the bus stop on Pemberton Drive in New Port Richey and accidentally dropped the cell phone into a storm drain.

The teenager removed a manhole cover and entered the manhole to recover the cell phone but became stuck. The teen was in the drain for about an hour before a passerby called for help.

Firefighters extricated the teen from the storm drain, and then checked the teen for injuries and hazardous gasses. The teen had no injuries.
