Pasco Firefighters Respond To Mass Casualty Accident On S.R. 52

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is investigating a mass casualty crash on State Road 52 at Hays Road.

PASCO COUNTY, FL -- The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a mass casualty crash on State Road 52 at Hays Road.

At 6:55 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, Pasco Fire Rescue responded to a serious crash that injured eight people.

Initially, fire rescue reported six people injured, listing two as trauma alerts. A few minutes later, fire rescue crews amended its report to eight people and requested a medical helicopter. One of the injured is a child.

According to troopers, Michael Mosley, 68, of Spring Hill was driving a Chevy Suburban east on State Road 52 while Jazzmin Nelson, 19, of Spring Hill was driving a Dodge Durango west on S.R. 52.

At the intersection of Hays Road, Mosely turned left into the path of Nelson. Their two SUVs collided nearly head on, troopers said, and both vehicles spun out.\

The child, a 5-year-old, was in Nelson's SUV. He was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa.
