Pasco County Opening Cold Weather Shelters

The facilities will open Monday and Tuesday evenings for those without adequate heat or shelter.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — As a cold front moves through the Tampa Bay area, threatening overnight lows in the upper 30s to low 40s, Pasco County has announced it will open its shelters to those who need heat.

“These low temperatures and wind chills are dangerous to anyone who will be outside for a long period of time,” the county announced in a media release. “Children, the elderly and pets are especially vulnerable to the cold and extra care should be taken to protect them.”

The cold weather shelters will open at 6 p.m. on Jan. 11 and Jan. 12 and will close at 8 a.m. each morning.
