Pasco Opening Cold Weather Shelters Thursday, Friday

Overnight lows will dip into the near-freezing range.

As the Tampa Bay area braces for a cold snap, Pasco County is preparing to house those without heat.

The county announced it will open cold weather shelters by Thursday and Friday evenings as the chilly weather moves through.

The National Weather Service is anticipating lows in the county to reach the low 40s Thursday night. On Friday, low temperatures will drop to the upper 30s. When wind chill is factored into the mix, conditions could become hazardous, the county noted in announcing shelter openings.
