Pasco School Board To Proceed With Vote On West Boundaries

The school board will proceed to vote on the superintendent's boundary proposal at a special board meeting Tuesday, May 29 at 9:30 a.m.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – The Pasco County School announced via its Twitter page that the challenge to the school boundary process was dismissed Friday, May 18, paving the way for a vote on the boundary proposal.

The dismissal means the administrative hearing scheduled for May 24 has been canceled.

As a result, the school board will proceed to vote on the superintendent’s boundary proposal at a special board meeting Tuesday, May 29 at 9:30 a.m.

Pasco County parent Jim Stanley requested the administrative hearing, contending that the school district did not follow state procedures when it set its proposed west Pasco boundaries.

While setting new school attendance boundaries has long been a divisive process, establishing the west Pasco boundaries has been especially contentious, with the issue debated for nearly two years.

The main bone of contention is whether students from the Longleaf and Ellington subdivisions should be reassigned to Mitchell High and Seven Springs Middle schools.
