NEW PORT RICHEY, FL -- She showed up to do her duty as a juror and left wearing handcuffs.

That's what happened to Kristine Victoria Mittler, 39, of 8234 Night Owl Court, New Port Richey, Monday, June 25, when she appeared at the West Pasco Judicial Center at 7530 Little Road, New Port Richey, to report for jury duty.

The entrances to all 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida facilities are equipped with X-ray machines manned by security guards. Mittler never made it through the archway of the metal detector.

The machine detected two folded foil packets in the pocket of Mittler's cargo pants and the alarm sounded.

Inside the packets was a white powder that the sheriff's office later confirmed was 0.6 grams of cocaine. Pasco deputies also found a straw on Mittler that tested positive for methamphetamine.
