Pasco Sheriff's Office Announces DUI Checkpoint

Motorists will find deputies manning a checkpoint in Port Richey on Friday night.

PORT RICHEY, FL – Pasco County motorists with big weekend plans may want to think ahead about designating a driver.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with other law enforcement agencies to conduct a DUI checkpoint on Friday, March 25 from 10 p.m. until midnight. The checkpoint will be set up in the area of Regency Park and Fox Hollow in Port Richey, the sheriff’s office said.

β€œThis DUI Checkpoint is part of the enhanced effort to apprehend impaired drivers and to bring attention to the dangers of driving impaired,” the sheriff’s office wrote in its announcement.

In 2015, the county logged more than 300 drug and/or alcohol-related crashes, the agency noted. Drivers caught behind the wheel impaired β€œcan expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000,” the agency warned.
