Pasco SWAT Team Arrest Holiday Man Barricaded In Home With Gun

A Holiday man who barricaded himself in his home after firing a shotgun through his front door, injuring another person, is now in custody.

HOLIDAY, FL – A Holiday man who barricaded himself in his home after firing a shotgun through his front door, injuring another person, is now in custody.

Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 5817 Appletree Road around 1 a.m. Wednesday, March 28 after Dean Moran, 47, barricaded himself in the house.

According to sheriff’s reports, earlier in the evening Moran went to a neighbor’s home and asked the female neighbor for a kiss. When she refused, he pushed her and then stabbed the leather seat of her motorcycle with a knife, causing $500 in damage.

Moran then returned to his home. The neighbor called a male friend and they went to his home to confront him. The male friend challenged him to a fight. Moran told them he was armed with a shotgun. He then fired the shotgun through the door. A piece of wood struck the male friend’s head, resulting in a minor injury.

That’s when the victims called the sheriff’s office. A Pasco County patrol unit tried to speak with Moran but he would not respond so the SWAT team was summoned.

After several failed attempts to contact Moran, the SWAT team forcefully entered the home and found Moran hiding under a bed.

He was charged with burglary battery, criminal mischief and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Deputies said they did not find the shotgun.
