Pasco Tax Collector Mike Fasano announces that his office is hosting a AAA Senior Defensive Driver Program.

Pasco Tax Collector Mike Fasano announces that his office is hosting a AAA Senior Defensive Driver Program. The class, to be conducted by the Auto Club Group’s Traffic Safety Foundation, is designed specifically for drivers 55 years of age and older. It is held in conjunction with the National Older Drivers Safety Awareness Week (December 1-5). The purpose of the class is to sharpen defensive driving skills and techniques and to prepare drivers for emergency situations. Additionally, the class will help experienced drivers learn how to compensate for changing vision, reflexes and response time. The impact of prescription medication upon driving will also be discussed.

The class will be held on December 1, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the West Pasco Government Center, 8731 Citizens Drive, New Port Richey (Staff Development Room, Service Level). Advance registration is required. There is a nominal cost of $15 per participant. Advance registration is required as space is limited. To register for the class please contact Patti Armstrong at 727-375-2404, ext 3226.

“I encourage older drivers to consider signing up for this important safety program,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “As the population of our county grows, we are seeing more drivers on the road than ever before. This class is intended to help older drivers learn the skills needed to safely navigate the roads they travel each and every day.”
