Pasco Tax Collector Mike Fasano Kicks Off “Bikers Care Tag Month” Starting October 1, 2013

Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano announces that his office will periodically highlight specialty license plates that benefit charitable organizations throughout the local community and the state.  During the month of October the “Bikers Care” tag will be the featured plate and will be available for display on registered motorcycles.

Customers who wish to purchase a specialty tag pay a fee above the normal renewal cost for the plate.  For the Bikers Care tag the fee is a once a year donation of $20.  The proceeds of these funds are distributed through the Bikers Care Alliance to six organizations that serve the disability community: the Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program, Prevent Blindness Florida, Blind Services Foundation of Florida, Foundation for Vocational Rehabilitation, Florida Association of Centers for Independent Living and The Able Trust.

“We are so excited about Tax Collector Fasano’s plan to get information about the specialty plates out to Pasco county residents,” states Martina Brawer, executive director of the Florida Association of Centers for Independent Living, and a member of the Bikers Care Alliance.  “Since the Bikers Care Tag is the only specialty plate for motorcycles we think kicking things off with the Bikers Care Tag is a great start.”

“This was a very generous gesture on behalf of the Pasco County tax collector's office. We appreciate your support and assistance to educate citizens in your county about the bikers Care tag and the benefits to the organizations it supports,” comments Thom DeLillla, Program Administrator for the Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program. “Hopefully, other tax collectors throughout the state will begin to feel the same way as Tax Collector Fasano. It would be nice to see the majority of bikers displaying the tag on their motorcycles.”

“I encourage motorcycle owners to consider purchasing the Bikers Care tag for their bikes when they come in to our office for renewal,” Tax Collector Fasano states.  “Not only will you be telling the world that you care about those with disabilities, you will be making a tangible contribution to many programs that help make their lives more productive.”
