Pasco Tax Collector Mike Fasano Kicks Off “Support Our Troops Tag Month”

Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano announces that his office will promote the “Support Our Troops” specialty license plate during the month of November.  The plate benefits Support Our Troops.org, a charitable organization that helps strengthen the morale and well-being of service members and their families through the provision of goods, services and other support.  Food, family assistance, kids’ summer camps and other programs are all services provided through the sale of the “Support Our Troops” specialty license plate.

Customers who wish to purchase a specialty tag pay a fee above the normal renewal cost for the plate.  For the Support Our Troops tag the fee is a once a year donation of $25.  In addition to the services provided to service members and their families, a portion of the sale of the specialty plate goes to the State Homes for Veterans Trust Fund within the Department of Veterans’ Affairs State Homes.  This program helps build and maintain the veterans’ nursing homes throughout the state of Florida.

“On behalf of the troops and their families please let me thank Mr. Fasano for offering this opportunity,” states Martin Boire, President of Support Our Troops Florida.  “Because charities and the government are both in the public service business, specialty plates are an excellent area in which government can cooperate for the common good.”

"I encourage vehicle owners to consider purchasing the Support Our Troops tag for their vehicles when they come in to our office for renewal,” Tax Collector Mike Fasano states.  “With Veterans Day fast approaching, purchasing a tag is a great way to show your support of the brave men and women who put their lives on the line each and every day so that we can stay free.  Displaying the Support Our Troops tag proudly on your vehicle will show other drivers that you care for those who make sacrifices for our great nation.”

The tag promotion runs throughout the entire month of November.  For those who may not want to or are not able to purchase a specialty tag may use the check-off box on their registration form, or make a direct cash donation to Support Our Troops, when they visit the Pasco County Tax Collectors Office (or renew by mail).  The tags will be available for purchase in the four locations in Pasco County were tags are sold: New Port Richey, Gulf Harbors, Land O’ Lakes and Dade City.  For more information about the tag promotion and Support Our Troops please contact Greg Giordano, Director of Customer Relations, at the tax collector’s office: 727-847- 8179.
