Pasco Tax Collector Mike Fasano announces that as of September 14, 2015 the tax collector’s computer system is no longer affiliated with the county’s computer mainframe, at the county’s request. This will result in improved customer service in all five of the county’s tax offices. Pasco County has long planned to shut down its mainframe at some point in the future, a move which allows constitutional offices to create or contract for a system that better serves the needs of their respective customers. Tax Collector Mike Fasano chose to move quickly and implement the well respected cashiering system TaxSys, which is run by Grant Street, a national leader in tax collector software. The new system will simplify transaction time both at the front counter and behind the scenes, saving not only time but tax dollars due to improved productivity and decreased labor costs.
“This project was a major challenge,” states Director of Information Technology Jody Grove of the Pasco Tax Collector’s Office. “My team and I are proud to have been a part of bringing this modern system to the residents of Pasco County.”
“The switch to the new cashiering system was spearheaded by our excellent IT department,” comments Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “They deserve great credit for their efforts. However, it truly was a team effort by all departments that worked together for close to two years from inception to completion. Most of all, the residents of our community will be the beneficiaries of this new system. From enjoying faster transaction times to experiencing greater access to our website, everyone who utilizes our office for information or to make payments will see the value of this new cashiering system.”
