Patience Urged As Pasco Awaits Delivery Of More Doses Of Vaccine

In the past seven days, 1,692 Pasco County residents have tested positive for the coronavirus.

PASCO COUNTY, FL β€” After distributing 3,500 doses of the coronavirus vaccine this week, Pasco County Emergency Management is making arrangements to distribute additional doses of the vaccine to those age 65 and older in the coming weeks.

Vaccinations are by registration only, and residents age 65 and older must register ahead of time by visiting the Vaccine Distribution website.

Appointments fill up quickly. All updates will be posted on the Vaccine Distribution website.

Additionally, the Department of Health-Pasco is working directly with the leaders of 55-plus communities throughout Pasco County to bring the vaccine to those residents over 65 who choose to be vaccinated.

The county is planning ahead when additional supplies become available and are creating a calendar to schedule future vaccinations.

Residents of long-term care and nursing facilities are being vaccinated through a state agreement with local pharmacies.

The county is asking for patience as it works through the process of vaccinating more than 130,000 of residents age 65 and older.

As of Saturday, 22,634 residents have tested positive for the coronavirus in Pasco County since the pandemic began with 1,551 hospitalizations and 385 deaths.

The county reported 212 new cases on Jan. 1 and 489 new cases on Dec. 31. In the past seven days, 1,692 Pasco County residents have tested positive.
