Pinellas Woman Leads Troopers On 115MPH Chase In Pasco County: FHP

A Pinellas woman faces multiple drug charges and traffic offenses after leading FL troopers on a 115 mph chase in Pasco County, FHP said.

TRINITY, FL β€” A Pinellas Park woman was arrested after leading troopers on a 115 mph chase through Pasco County on Tuesday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

Desarae Ciocca, 29, faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence, amphetamine trafficking (28 grams or more), drug possession with intent to sell, drug possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, driving while licensed was suspended (habitual offender), and reckless driving.

A trooper clocked Ciocca going 70 mph in a 45 mph zone on Trinity Boulevard, just west of Little Road, around 10:50 p.m., according to the incident report.

When the trooper tried to pull her over, she sped up to 110 to 115 mph while heading east on Trinity Boulevard.

As Ciocca tried to drive through a Publix parking lot at the intersection of State Road 54 and Community Drive, the trooper said he tried a PIT maneuver, which caused her car to spin around.

She gained control and began heading east on State Road 54 consistently at speeds of 110 to 115 mph.

Ciocca ran several red lights at triple digit speeds nearly causing several crashes and β€œshowing complete wanton disregard for the safety of herself and others,” the incident report said.

She continued east on State Road 54 until it turned into State Road 56.

A Pasco County deputy tried to use a spike strip on her car at the intersection of State Road 56 and Grand Cypress Drive, but Ciocca swerved around it and across all eastbound lanes, nearly crashing off the road, the incident report said.

When she regained control, a trooper positioned his patrol car on Ciocca’s driver’s side in a successful PIT maneuver, causing her to spin out to the left into the center grass median, where she came to a stop.

Troopers noticed β€œan odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting” from her and that β€œher eyes were watery and glassy,” according to the incident report. Her breath sample had a blood alcohol content of .091.

She told troopers that she fled from them because she was a repeat offender and didn’t want to go to jail.

Troopers found 17 grams of cocaine, 69 grams of methamphetamine, baggies, a scale and a rolling tray in her car. Ciocca has previous arrests related to selling drugs, investigators said.
