Pot-Laced Gummy Bears: 2 Kids Airlifted, Woman Jailed

A 20-year-old woman faces child abuse charges after two small kids allegedly ate her marijuana-laced gummy bears.

BAYONET POINT, FL — The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 20-year-old woman on Friday after an incident at a Bayonet Point home earlier in the month resulted in two kids being airlifted to a St. Petersburg hospital.

According to the agency, the incident that led to Bobbie Lynn Johnson’s arrest began to unfold on June 17 at the home. Johnson, an arrest report said, left two packages of marijuana-laced gummy bears on a coffee table. The children, ages 3 and 5, who also lived at the home, saw the packages and just couldn’t resist, the report said.

A short while after eating the pot-laced candy, the 3-year-old said she did not feel well and “she started (to) fade in and out of consciousness,” the report said.

Both children were subsequently “rushed” to the Bayonet Point Hospital emergency room, the report added. While there, authorities say Johnson told someone over speaker phone that the kids ate gummy bears that contained 350mg of THC each, the report said.

“As a result of eating the gummy bears, the children were Bayflighted to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg for further care,” the report said.

Johnson was arrested on June 30. She faces two counts of child abuse.
