Pound Net Creek Paddle Trip

Salt Springs Alliance, the Citizen Support Group for Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park, invites you to paddle with us
on an ambitious trip from our launch point at CSO headquarters at the north end
of Old Post Road to Pound Net Creek in Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park. If
time permits, we will also explore a smaller, and more interesting, twin of
Pound Net Creek just to its south. Both creeks wind back and forth and end in
large tidal lakes. Our trip will take us out through Salt Spring Run and north
past the mouth of Double Hammock Creek and the Westport Channel.

We will very likely see a variety of waterfowl and wading birds, rays, horseshoe
and blue crabs, many species of fish - and if we're lucky - maybe a pod of dolphins. Be sure to bring plenty of water or other drinks sufficient for several hours in the hot sun - as well as sun screen. Insect repellent will

probably not be necessary, but it never hurts to be prepared.

This will be a 6-1/2 mile excursion, with a good portion in open Gulf waters - so
it is not recommended for beginner paddlers. Expect to be on the water for 2-1/2
to 3 hours - returning to our launch point around noon.

All paddlers must bring their own kayak or canoe. Each person is required to

have a USCG approved personal floatation device. Participants must also

sign a liability waiver before launching.
