Pug That Was Attacked Physically Now Helps Others Emotionally
Patch readers told us who the "Everyday Inspirations" in their communities are, and we're sharing their stories and the work they've done locally.
Everyday Inspirations is a series that features people in Patch communities who inspire others through their work, or people who have faced extraordinary situations and grown from them. They have been highlighted by other people in the community that have been inspired by the nominees.
Name:Â Chloe the pug
Town:Â New Port Richey, FL
Nominated by:Â Cristina MantillaÂ
Why is this person an "Everyday Inspiration?"Â
Chloe is a 5-year-old pug who is a therapy dog. She goes to work with me every day at my mental health practice and helps children, teens, and families feel more comfortable and relaxed. She puts a smile on the faces of everyone she encounters. She has helped me tremendously in my practice and I couldn't be more proud of having her as my four-legged assistant.Â
Has the nominee's life been changed in an extraordinary way?Â
Over two years ago Chloe and I were attacked by a pit bull mix. We both sustained injuries that were physical and emotional as a result of the attack. We have used this experience to strengthen the need to get emotional help for traumatic experiences and this has helped both of us and others in our community by sharing our story and facing our fears.
How does this person work to make others' lives better?
Chloe is a working dog who practices Animal Assisted Therapy. She is a trained therapy dog who assists me in my mental health practice. Asking for help is a difficult process for many individuals and Chloe helps make them feel more comfortable in this process. Most of the people she has encountered over her years of service have formed a deep meaningful connection with her.
