Re: Teen Moms ... Why?

Education, or the lack thereof, may play a role. And the fact that many mothers of these teen moms were also in their teens when they became pregnant; it's what happens when babies have babies, and there's no one around to teach them any differently or to break the chain. It's rampant here in Pasco County. There are no positive outlets for children here so they all just hang out with each other with nothing constructive to do and no proper guidance. An example is of one young woman I know who had two children by the time she was 17; she wasn't married, split up with her children's father, went on to have four more children; she married the father of those 4 children, she is a drug addict, works in a fast food restaurant; she's introduced her 13-yr-old to smoking grass (and who knows what else by now) and now that child is aimed down a very bad path with a boyfriend she sneaks out to see and will probably end up pregnant by the time she's 14-15 (like mother like daughter in this case); she made her oldest daughter drive the car when mom was too blasted to do so. The families of all of these people know what's going on and taking place but yet no one does anything about it; all of them are on welfare and going nowhere. It's this vicious cycle of ignorance that keeps it going generation after generation in some lower class sectors. They have no vision of anything other than what's been happening before them. It's like they can never get out from under. No pun intended.
