PASCO COUNTY, FL — Pasco County has adopted new FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps and is encouraging residents to check the maps and learn how the changes could affect their properties and flood insurance premiums.

Pasco County Floodplain Management invited residents to use its interactive, online tool to find out how proposed flood hazard data contained in the new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) could impact their homes. The new Federal Emergency Management Agency Flood Insurance Rate Maps will go into effect June 5.

Pasco County is also recommending that all new construction and substantial improvements meet the higher Base Flood Elevation shown on the preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Map and Flood Insurance Study report, if applicable.
